At Sibelius TrainingWMPSMusic, we have been expert users of this world beating software since the early days of Acorn Sibelius.  The latest version, Sibelius 6, is now recognized as so technologically advanced that it puts all its main rivals in the shade. It is now so easy to use and to get great results, that it has become the music typesetting software of choice for many composers, arrangers, engravers and educational establishments worldwide.

Whilst Sibelius 6 is justifiably recognized as the most user friendly music typesetting software on the market, with users being able to make beautifully rendered pages themselves in a very short time, training is still required to maximize the full potential of the programme.

To that end WMPSMusic is glad to offer training in the intricacies of Sibelius 6, from basic music input to more advanced uses, such as working with midi files and exporting as .WAV files for use in other music processing packages.

We will have 4 different levels of course:

1. Teachers with entry levels students.

2. Intermediate  level students

3. ‘A’ level students

4. Arrangers and Composers with a good level of knowledge of Sibelius.

OUTLINES

1. Document setup. (Addition of instruments etc.) Inputting from a midi keyboard, Basic keyboard shortcuts. How to save files.  Dynamics. Basic note input (qwerty/midi) (single lines) Lyric input. Finished score appearance and printing. Sticky notes and idea capture. Worksheets for teachers.

2. All the above plus:- simple part extraction, transposing scores. Multi-lyric input. Chord symbols and guitar boxes. Simple percussion input. Keyboards, (double staff entry.) Dynamic parts.

3. All the above plus:- Instrument changes (doublings) and transposing. Multi-voice input and extraction. Staff justification. Reading .midi/.xml files into Sibelius 6. More advance percussion input (drum kit and drum set). Cross staff beaming for Keyboards. Choir writing and dynamic placement. Exporting to midi/xml/mp3. Pagination. House styles.

4. All of the above plus:- Scorch publishing. Multi-verse/lyric playback using correct voice in playback. Sound setup. Scanning. PDFToMusicPro, Complicated part extraction and cueing. Complex pagination. Pitfalls of importing and exporting .midi/.xml files.
